Research - 10 Artists

 10 Artist Inspirations 

        Doug Williams 

                Texture- painterly with visible brush strokes, detail on creatures

                Atmosphere- depth in scene, mood 

        Raul Monge

                Center Composition - draws eye directly to the subject

                Atmosphere and Motion - uses atmosphere to imply depth, motion present in illustrations

        Andrew Baker

            Silhouette - simple blocked out illustrations to quickly iterate on different designs

            Lighting and Atmosphere- unnatural lighting with dust/fog in the air

        Carlos Sangado

            Lighting - strong highlights on edges

            Texture - painterly, but also small details in the construction of the creatures

        Andrea Savchenko

            Process - using 3D modeling to speed up painting process

            Sculpture Detail - relief on gold details adds depth, makes it look expensive

        David Masson San Gabriel

            Rendering - smooth rendering, makes the creatures look very 3D

            Texture Stylization - brush strokes to imply bark and leaves

            Display - as figurines is appealing interesting and grounds model

            Stylization- clothing especially, bright highlights on edges

            Fur Stylization - shape and pattern that is appealing without too much detail in each strand

Research - Goals for the Future

 Goals:

        -entry level position at a mid-sized studio
        -character/creature concept art and designer
        -semi-realism to realism stylistically
        -no real preference on studio, but very invested in location. I would prefer to live in Virginia
