3D - Module 2 Week 7 -ZBrush Sculpting

Huge struggles this week. The first thing we had to do was sculpt the details into the 3D model. I made a mistake right off the bat by not importing parts into ZBrush as separate FBXs. By the time I was told that's what I should've done I had already sculpted all the details.

It was recommended that I reproject the details of my high resolution to the separate pieces of the other mesh. It was working to an extent but the fused details were still being projected onto the new mesh so I just went with the model that I had.

We took the higher resolution model back into Maya and created a low poly model to retopography the high resolution.

From there I attempted to make UVs. I had never done this before and my UVs definitely came out looking weird.

I tried to straighten them out to the best of my abilities.

I wasn't sure if these were going to work so I also exported a version of the mesh with the automatic UVs generated by Maya.

I did manage to get the high resolution model to bake onto the lower resolution model, but the UVs are absolutely atrocious and will need to be fixed before continuing onto the next stage.
